Enclosures are sold by footprint (4 × 2 × 2 ft) more than by gallons. “Gallons of space” converts the box volume so you can compare with glass tanks.

Questions
What size tank does a bearded dragon need?
At least 4 × 2 × 2 ft (48 × 24 × 24 in, about 120 gallons of space) for one adult; ReptiFiles recommends 6 × 2 × 2 ft.
Is a 40-gallon tank big enough for a bearded dragon?
No: a 40-gallon breeder is about 45 gallons of space, about a third of a 4 × 2 × 2 ft enclosure. It can do for a juvenile, briefly.
What size tank does a leopard gecko need?
At least 36 × 18 × 18 in for an adult, per ReptiFiles, with 4 × 2 × 2 ft as the better option.
What size enclosure does a ball python need?
A 4 × 2 × 2 ft enclosure for an adult; they can survive in a 75-gallon tank but are more active with more room.
Should I buy a bigger enclosure for a baby reptile?
Most keepers buy the adult size from the start if they can set it up with enough cover; very open space can stress hatchlings, so add hides and clutter.
What size tank does a crested gecko need?
At least 18 × 18 × 24 in for an adult: a tall enclosure, because crested geckos climb.
What size enclosure for a corn snake?
A 4 × 2 × 2 ft enclosure suits an adult corn snake, with an escape-proof lid.
Is a glass tank or a PVC enclosure better?
Both work if the size is right; PVC enclosures hold heat and humidity better and often open at the front, which many keepers prefer.
